PROCEDURES AND TREATMENTS WE OFFER
ENT physicians are trained in both medicine and surgery. This allows our doctors to offer the most comprehensive care possible to our patients without the need for referrals if surgery is necessary.
Common surgical procedures performed by ENTs include:
Tonsillectomy or Adenoidectomy
Recurring throat and ear infections, especially in children, may warrant the need to remove the tonsils and adenoids – which are located in the throat. Enlarged tonsils and adenoids may obstruct breathing and cause problems with swallowing. Surgical removal can help with these issues.
Nasal Septum Surgery
This procedure is performed on patients with a deviated nasal septum. The nasal septum separates the nose into two nasal cavities. Surgery can help improve nasal breathing.
Endoscopic sinus surgery can help improve sinus drainage, alleviating chronic sinusitis. Infected tissue can be removed, as well as bone, and growths, or polyps, inside the nasal or sinus passage.
Myringotomy with Tubes
This surgical procedure involves making a small incision in the eardrum. It is performed to help drain fluid or pus from the middle ear. Ear tubes are then placed in the opening, allowing air in. This is one of the most commonly performed childhood surgeries – though it can also be performed on adolescents and adults.
This surgical procedure involves repairing a perforated eardrum that does not heal on its own. There are many different types of tympanoplasty, but all involve grafting tissue over the hole in the eardrum, allowing it to heal.
